Our police, fire, and community spaces need updates, but working families shouldn’t have to pay more out of pocket to get them. Marina is growing, and that growth brings new revenue. I am committed to funding our vital public facilities by prioritizing our current budget and utilizing growth revenue.
KEEPING MARINA AFFORDABLE
Marina is still considered an affordable coastal community, though it does not feel that way for many residents. Families, young professionals, seniors, and essential workers are all feeling the pressure of rising housing costs.
I have a solution for more workforce housing, with smaller infill development projects on city owned land. Instead of relying solely on large private developments, Marina can take advantage of underutilized public property to create housing opportunities for the people who already live and work here.
SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES
Local businesses are an important part of Marina’s identity and economy.
The city should take a fair and practical approach that supports existing businesses while creating opportunities for new ones. This includes looking at how policies, permitting, and day to day decisions impact business owners and making sure the process is reasonable and consistent.
A strong local business community benefits everyone and contributes to a more vibrant and sustainable city.
PRACTICAL IMPROVEMENTS
Marina does not need unnecessary or overly complex projects. It needs attention to the basics.
Maintaining parks, streets, and public spaces should be a priority. Small, consistent improvements often have a bigger impact on daily life than large plans that take years to complete or change direction over time.
Focusing on what residents see and use every day is one of the most effective ways to improve the city.
