About Mike

Born and raised around Northern California, I grew up in a working-class family with limited resources. My early working experiences included a paper route and helping in the school cafeteria on my lunch break, which instilled in me a strong work ethic and a sense of responsibility. My journey into community service began with volunteer work as a High Adventure Explorer, where I helped raise funds for trips and took on leadership roles with the Scouts of America.

In high school, I was active on the Swim and Water Polo teams, balancing sports with my commitment to service. After high school, I took a non-traditional path, delaying college to explore various careers and gain real-world experience before eventually finding my calling in the medical field.

I am a proud SEIU 521 member and a Respiratory Care Practitioner with a large public healthcare system. I’ve had extensive training as a union steward. I am experienced in staff management as well as policy review and quality improvement committees.

My deep affection for the Monterey Bay region led me to set permanent roots in Marina. I have been happily married to my wife, Cosette, for 22 years, and we share our home with three beloved dogs. Together, we enjoy life in this vibrant community and continue to be driven by a passion for service and making a positive impact.
