My Focus
What I will prioritise as Mayor, and why.
My approach to leadership is simple. Focus on what matters, improve what we already have, and make decisions that benefit the entire community.
Marina needs steady progress, thoughtful planning, and consistent follow through.
Public Safety
Public safety is a fundamental responsibility of city government.
I support strong police, fire, and emergency services, along with the resources they need to serve the community effectively. At the same time, public safety also includes the everyday conditions that affect quality of life, well maintained streets, safe public spaces, and community services that help prevent issues before they escalate.
A safe community is one where residents feel secure, supported, and confident in the services around them.
Opposing 7% Utility Users Tax
I am opposed to this 7% Utility Users Tax as it is being written.
I believe Marina can build the facilities it needs without placing another permanent tax on residents. We are one of the fastest-growing cities in Monterey County. New homes, new businesses, hotels, and commercial development will continue expanding our tax base.
Building More Sports Fields
Our community has grown, our youth sports programs have grown, but the number of fields available to our kids hasn't kept pace. We should be planning for additional fields and making them a real priority as Marina continues to grow.
I don't want us talking about the need for more fields for another decade. I want to see them built. Investing in sports fields is an investment in our kids, our families and the future of Marina.
Transparency and Responsiveness
Residents deserve a city government that communicates clearly and responds in a timely and respectful way.
I believe decisions should be easy to understand, with clear reasoning and open communication. When residents have concerns, they should feel heard, not ignored or frustrated by the process.
Building trust in local government starts with consistency, transparency, and a willingness to listen.
Supporting Local Businesses
Local businesses are an important part of Marina’s identity and economy.
The city should take a fair and practical approach that supports existing businesses while creating opportunities for new ones. This includes looking at how policies, permitting, and day to day decisions impact business owners and making sure the process is reasonable and consistent.
A strong local business community benefits everyone and contributes to a more vibrant and sustainable city.
Practical Improvements
Marina does not need unnecessary or overly complex projects. It needs attention to the basics.
Maintaining parks, streets, and public spaces should be a priority. Small, consistent improvements often have a bigger impact on daily life than large plans that take years to complete or change direction over time.
Focusing on what residents see and use every day is one of the most effective ways to improve the city.
Thoughtful Growth and Planning
Marina continues to grow, and that growth should be approached thoughtfully.
I support planning that respects the character of the community, considers long term impacts, and balances the needs of both existing residents and newer neighborhoods. Growth should make Marina better, not more complicated or less connected.
Good planning is about making decisions that serve the whole city, not just short term goals.
Working Together as One Community
Marina is made up of people from different backgrounds, neighborhoods, and experiences. That diversity is a strength.
I believe the role of city leadership is to bring people together, find common ground, and work toward shared goals. Progress happens when the focus stays on solutions that benefit the entire community.
