Privacy Policy
How this campaign collects, uses, and protects your information.
Last updated: August 16, 2026
Moeller for Mayor 2026 (the "Campaign," "we," "us," or "our") is the campaign committee supporting Mike Moeller's candidacy for Mayor of Marina, California. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information in connection with mikeformarina.com (the "Site") and our campaign activities.
By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. We encourage you to read this policy in full and to contact us with any questions.
Information you provide to us
We collect information you choose to give us. This may include your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, employer and occupation, and any message or comment you send us.
You may provide this information when you sign up for campaign updates, volunteer, request a yard sign, contact the Campaign, attend or register for an event, or otherwise communicate with us.
If you make a contribution, California law requires the Campaign to collect and publicly report certain information about contributors, which may include your name, address, occupation, and employer. That obligation is imposed by state law and by the Fair Political Practices Commission, not by this Site, and reported information becomes part of the public record.
You are not required to provide any of this information to browse the Site. Where we ask for it, providing it is voluntary, though we may be unable to fulfil a request without it.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically receives certain technical information when you visit, which may include your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, and the date and time of your request.
This information is processed to deliver pages to you, to keep the Site secure and available, and to diagnose problems. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors from it.
The Site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests on our behalf as a service provider.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. The Site uses a consent tool that sorts cookies into four categories: essential, functional, analytics, and marketing.
Essential cookies are necessary for the Site to function and to remember your privacy choices; these cannot be switched off. Functional, analytics, and marketing cookies are disabled unless you choose to enable them.
As of the date above, the Site does not load any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking scripts. The consent controls exist so that if the Campaign later adds such a tool, it cannot run before you have agreed to it.
You may change your choices at any time using the Cookies link in the footer of any page. You may also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the Site may not work as intended if you do.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
If your browser or extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, the Site honors it automatically as a valid opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information, as recognised under California law. You do not need to take any further action, and you will not be asked to make a cookie choice.
We do not currently respond to other Do Not Track signals, as no common standard for them has been adopted.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to communicate with you about the Campaign, including news, events, and volunteer opportunities; to respond to your questions and requests; to organise volunteers and campaign activities; to process and acknowledge contributions; to comply with campaign finance and other legal obligations; and to operate, secure, and improve the Site.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not share your information with other campaigns, committees, or organisations for their own marketing purposes without your consent, except as described in this policy or as required by law.
How we share information
We share information with service providers who perform functions on our behalf, such as website hosting, email delivery, and contribution processing. These providers are permitted to use the information only to provide services to the Campaign.
Contributions are processed by Anedot, a third-party payment processor, on its own platform. The Campaign does not receive or store your full payment card details. Anedot's handling of your information is governed by its own privacy policy.
We disclose information where required by law, including public campaign finance reporting, and in response to lawful requests by public authorities. We may also disclose information where we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Campaign, our supporters, or others.
Email and text messages
If you provide your email address, we may send you campaign updates, invitations, and requests for support. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you may opt out at any time by using that link or by contacting us directly.
If you provide your mobile number and agree to receive text messages, message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or reply HELP for assistance. Consent to receive messages is not a condition of any contribution or of volunteering.
Third-party links and embedded content
The Site links to third-party websites and services, including Facebook, Instagram, and our contribution platform. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those services, and this policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Photographs from the Campaign's Instagram account that appear on the Site are copied to our own server when the Site is built. Viewing them does not cause your browser to contact Instagram.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to communicate with supporters through the election, and for as long as required to meet campaign finance recordkeeping and reporting obligations under California law.
When information is no longer needed and no legal obligation requires us to keep it, we delete it or render it anonymous.
Data security
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect the information we hold, including serving the Site over an encrypted connection.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive information to the Campaign by email.
Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, you may have the right to request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you; to request deletion of personal information we have collected from you; to request correction of inaccurate personal information; and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
We do not sell personal information, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out of sharing.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and you may designate an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf.
Certain information the Campaign holds is subject to public disclosure requirements under California campaign finance law and may not be deletable for that reason.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clear on this page. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
